RentLog
Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 18, 2026
Summary
RentLog helps tenants and residents organize records for rental and neighbor issues. RentLog is local-first. The app does not require an account, does not use third-party advertising, does not include analytics SDKs, and does not upload your case records to developer-operated servers.
Information You Add to the App
You may choose to add:
- Case names, addresses, and counterparty notes
- Incident dates, times, durations, notes, tags, and optional location
- Sound-level metadata measured through the microphone
- Photos or videos imported from your photo library
- Communication logs and imported screenshots or files
- Editable letter drafts
- Generated PDF evidence packs
This information is stored locally on your device by default.
Microphone
RentLog uses microphone access only when you choose optional live sound-level metering from Add Incident. RentLog measures decibel metadata and does not save conversation audio by default. Review local privacy, consent, recording, building, and tenancy rules before attaching or sharing any audio or sensitive records.
Photos and Videos
RentLog uses the system photo-library picker so you can choose existing photos or videos to attach to an incident. RentLog only imports the items you select.
Location
Location access is optional. If you allow it, RentLog may attach approximate coordinates to an incident record so your timeline is clearer. You can deny location access and still use the app.
Notifications
Notifications are optional and used for local follow-up reminders after saving an incident.
Face ID or Device Authentication
If you enable Face ID Lock, RentLog uses device authentication to protect local access to sensitive case records. RentLog does not receive your biometric data.
Optional iCloud Backup
RentLog may offer optional iCloud backup. If you turn it on, RentLog encrypts your app data before writing a backup file to your iCloud container. iCloud storage is provided by Apple and controlled through your Apple ID and device settings.
In-App Purchases
RentLog uses Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases and subscription status. Payment and billing information are handled by Apple. RentLog receives product and entitlement status needed to unlock Pro PDF export features.
Data Sharing
RentLog does not sell your data. RentLog does not share your case records with third-party advertisers or analytics providers.
You control sharing when you export a PDF, use the system share sheet, copy text, or send a draft through another app. Review exported material before sharing it.
Children's Privacy
RentLog is not designed for children. Do not use RentLog to collect or share sensitive information about children unless you have the right to do so and have reviewed applicable local rules.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as RentLog changes. The updated policy will show a new effective date.
